Edna Woolsey

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville for Edna Maureen Woolsey.

Mrs. Woolsey, 107, died February 4 at Jersey Community Hospital.

She was born January 26, 1912 in White Hall, the daughter of the late Harry Morton and Myra (Lorton) Muntz. She married Rupert “Chick” Woolsey in 1941; he died in 1989.

She was a 1930 graduate of White Hall High School and then taught school in rural Greene County. In her later years she was also a substitute for Jersey Community School District. She assisted her husband in the daily operations of their grocery business Woolsey Food Market, located on West Arch Street for over 20 years. After its closing, she began employment with Illinois Valley Economic Development Corporation, serving as assistant project director for youth and work training programs for five counties, retiring after 11 plus years.

Surviving is a son, Tom Woolsey of Miami Beach, Florida; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the First United Methodist Church in Jerseyville. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
