Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville for Frances I. Dougherty.
Mrs. Dougherty, 79, died April 12 at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis.
She was born in Utah, February 17, 1940, the daughter of the late John and Alice (Peed) McCue. She married Patrick L. Dougherty in 1960; he died in 1993.
She was raised in a military family and grew up throughout the United States, wherever her father was stationed. It was while living in Texas, she met her husband. She began a day care in her home, providing many families with a safe, loving creative environment spanning a period of nearly 35 years.
She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Jerseyville. She considered herself to be the “Uber” Grandma, transporting her grandchildren to and from different activities.
Surviving are five children, including Tim (Carol) Dougherty of Kane and Lisa (Scott) Youngblood of Jerseyville; 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. April 17 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery in Jerseyville.
Memorials may be made to either St. Francis/Holy Ghost Catholic Schools or Isaac’s Rays of Hope.
